I sing about the garden,
And the solitude of prayer;
I kneel in midst of the beauty,
And Jesus meets me there–
But sometimes “alone in the garden,”
As I meet with Christ in prayer,
Is sweeter and stronger and better
If I know that others are there.
When Christ was alone in the garden,
He prayed to the Father and wept,
Expecting His friends to be praying;
But instead, they grew tired and slept.
If Jesus, alone in the garden,
Wanted friends to uphold Him in prayer,
How important it is in my weakness
That I know that my friends are there.

The need for connection and the precious comfort of knowing you are united in spirit definitely feeds the soul!
Awesome poem Dad!
will check your blog out…love your poem…:D
Thanks for taking the challenge of writing a poem. I especially loved it because you built off one of my favorite hymns! Truly it is such a great truth that we need our friends most in hard times. LOVE that you were so open to say so!
